Calvert Chalk and Steven Chalk. We are very pleased
to be associated with United Martial Arts of Maryland.
Students range from age 8 to adult and our classes are
held at the Sweet Air Park.

2013 Program:

DESCRIPTION - UMAM karate is a unique combination
of American Kenpo Karate, Tang Soo Do, Ju jitsu, Chin Na,
and Judo. As students progress through belt-ranks they learn
self-defense, self-discipline and concentration. They also
gain fitness, motivation and new friendship
STUDENT AGE - Students age eight years and up welcome.
Classes are mixed-age and grouped by belt rank. No prior experience
needed.
LOCATION - The Recreation Center at Sweet Air Park,
3605 Sweet Air Road, Phoenix, MD 21131
REGISTRATION- Typically sessions are eight weeks (16
classes), depending on holidays and closings. The
Spring 2013 Session (4 weeks) begins with the first class of the session
on Monday, May 6, 2013 at 6:30 and you can register the
same day at 6:15. Please note, class sizes are limited and
registration is on a first come basis.
CLASS TIMES - Class meets twice a week for all students.

6:30 - 7:30 pm
Saturdays
10:00 am -11:00 am
Additional class time is available for students with the
approval of the Black Belts.
COST - Contribution is $75 per eight week session, $150 per family maximum.

Note to parents: This activity is designed to provide a healthy
and enjoyable experience for your child. However, this program
is not a child care program and is not designed to provide
childcare. Therefore, parents are encouraged to discuss attendance
expectations with their children. Staff cannot detain any
youth wishing to leave at any time!

Karate Program Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a limit to class size?
Yes, we will have a waiting list available, if necessary.
Who can participate?
Ages 8 to adult, this is a great opportunity to participate
with your children.
Do we have to purchase a uniform (gei) right away?
No. Once the student has learned the requirements for
the Advanced White belt and is ready to test, then.
When does the program run?
All year. The program runs in 5 sessions, each about 8 weeks long.
What a great way to cross train and stay fit all year!!
