Announcements / News
Welcome to the 2008 Lacrosse Season! We are looking forward to a great season.
Registration
Registration is now complete.
Uniforms
There is a change in the uniforms for 2008! The uniform jerseys are
the same as the 2007 spring season. We will continue to use this jersey
through at least spring 2009. New for spring 2008 - we will be wearing shorts
instead of the kilt. All girls will need to purchase shorts. The shorts are
navy blue with the Carroll Manor logo on the front and cost $15. All girls can
have her last name embroidered on the back of the left leg for an additional
$5. Please make a note on the registration confirmation page if you would like your name on
the back. For new players (or continuing players who need a new uniform), the
cost is $35 for the jersey and $15 for the shorts ($20 with your name).
Equipment
All players are responsible for providing their own stick,
mouthguard (must be a visible color - NOT clear or white) and protective
eyewear for all practices and games. Protective eyewear must be certified by
the protective eyewear certification council (PECC) and must be in compliance
with ASTM F803-30 Standards for Lacrosse. Go to
www.uslacrosse.org for a list
of manufacturers and models of eyewear meeting these specifications and for
other information on protective eyewear.

We are very excited about taking on the role of co-chairpersons
for Carroll Manor Girls Lacrosse. This program is a strong
program and we are eager to continue that path as well as
strengthen and augment it as needed. Many thanks to Sharon
Credit for all her years of dedication and commitment to the
program. We will continue to rely on her expertise as we move
forward.
In addition to the new chairpersons, below is a list of the
new age level commissioners. These dedicated parents will
be a valuable resource for each age group. They are:
Clinic - currently open
Tyker - Lori Lambert
Lightning/Midget/Junior - Jen Milan and Christina Wilhelm
In order to maintain equality at all of the age levels, we
strongly encourage all girls to play at their designated age
level. For those parents who feel that their daughter should
play at an older level, please contact either the Mary, Jill
or the age level commissioner.
Program Vision
To provide a team environment that teaches the girls skills
they will need to advance to the next level of play, to instill
good sportsmanship through positive coaching and to foster
a love and an appreciation of the game of lacrosse.
Program Values
The Carroll Manor Girls Lacrosse program values sportsmanship,
respect, fun and a competitive spirit in a solid team environment.
Program Goals and Strategies to obtain our Vision:
| Goals |
Strategy |
| Consistent skills at
each level |
Will set standard objectives
to be taught to all girls playing at the clinic, tyker,
lightening, midget, and junior levels. Coaches will be
asked to focus their teaching on these skill sets. |
| Consistent coaching
|
Will provide coaches
training to make sure all coaches have the basics to coach
in our program based on our philosophy. |
| Increase community awareness
|
Will market the program
via spirit wear, opening day events, and play days with
guest programs at the non-MYLA levels. |
| Player development |
Will group players in
levels that are consistent with her abilities. This will
enable coaches to focus training on common needed skills.
Additionally the girls will have the opportunity to play
teams that are more evenly matched to their skill levels. |
| Boys Lacrosse program |
Will work closely with
the commissioners of the Boys Lacrosse program to join
forces and share resources |
Coaching Philosophy
Coaches will treat the opportunity to work with the young
women in the program as a privilege and an important responsibility.
Coaches will demonstrate fairness at all times and stress
positive reinforcement over criticism when teaching skills.
Coaches will openly communicate expectations and hold players
and parents accountable to meet them. All coaches shall treat
the girls and their parents with the same respect that they
expect to receive. Coaches will be a role model for sportsmanship,
having fun and pursuing excellence.
Call to Action
We need your help! In order to do all the things listed above
we cannot do it alone. We are asking for your time and commitment
for the benefit of the girls and the community.
Coaches/Assistants:
We need those willing to coach or act
as an assistant coach. If you have older daughters that play
lacrosse now or when they were younger we would welcome them
to assist as well. They can also satisfy service hours when
helping younger girls!
Non-coaching Parents:
You are also extremely valuable to
us. We need help with several different subcommittees. Some
of these committees will be combined with the Boy's program.
Please plan to give us a small portion of your time and tell
us where you think you would like to help.
