Program Goal
Carroll Manor Lacrosse Clinic
The goal of the clinic is to introduce the next generation of lacrosse
players to the fundamentals of lacrosse in a fun and instructive
environment.
The Clinic has been expanded into two groups (Clinic A and Clinic B)
to accommodate boys at all levels. Clinic A is a basic introduction
to lacrosse while Clinic B provides skill-appropriate advancement
for second year players to better prepare for transition to the Tyker
level.
Program Information
Both Clinic A and Clinic B will practice simultaneously in separate
groups at the same field location. Both clinics will focus upon the
fundamentals of lacrosse: scooping, cradling, catching, throwing,
dodging, basic field positions, etc... In addition to the field time,
we will provide educational information (handouts) to the boys for
practicing and reviewing at home.
Parent Participation
In order to make our program a success, we rely greatly upon the
involvement of parents. Volunteer coaches to help with drills
and coaching will be required at both clinic levels in order to
maximize individual attention for each boy. Prior knowledge of
lacrosse is not a requirement (we will teach you too!) but certainly
welcome! Additionally, the boys will achieve the greatest advancement
and confidence if they practice their skills at home. Handouts will
be distributed to remind players and parents of the recommended skills
and drills when away from practice.
Finally, once rosters are finalized we will coordinate a drink and
snack schedule for each clinic session, with contributions divided
between all of the families.
Clinic A
Clinic A is intended for younger and first year lacrosse players and
boys not yet ready to commit to playing with equipment. Clinic A will
focus upon learning lacrosse fundamentals and exercising fundamentals
through drills. Skills introduced include cradling, scooping,
catching, throwing, shooting and dodging. Boys will participate in
small intra-clinic scrimmages. Protective gear will not be worn as
all drills and scrimmages will be no-contact and soft-balls.
Equipment Provided: Carroll Manor will provide shirts and soft lacrosse balls.
Equipment Required: Regulation lacrosse stick (preferably 36" long). Cleats are desired.
Clinic B
Clinic B is intended for boys who are ready to play with equipment
and who intend to move on to the Tyker level in the following
season. Clinic B players will utilize full equipment and regulation
balls. Clinic B will expand upon the fundamental skills introduced
during Clinic A and go more in depth into field positions and lacrosse
strategies. Boys will participate in small intra-clinic scrimmages,
and may participate in limited scrimmages with other clinic programs
as schedules allow.
Equipment Provided: Carroll Manor will provide shirts and lacrosse balls.
Equipment Required:
Regulation lacrosse stick (preferably 36" long);
gloves; helmet; shoulder pads; elbow pads; cup; mouth guard. Cleats are desired.
