in this room, as well as sent home with your child.

the $20 fee must be paid within 10 days of notification,
or the child/children will not be allowed to continue with
dance classes until the situation is completely resolved.
REGISTRATION - Registration forms
will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis. You
will be notified ONLY if you do not get your first
choice! Please enroll your child in grade level they are
in at school. Any exception to this policy will be made
after walk-in registration and with approval of the class
instructor and program chairmen. As always, class times
are subject to change, depending on enrollment. We will
also hold a walk-in registrationin the dance studio at Jacksonville
Elementary prior to the start of the dance season.
ATTIRE- All students will
be required to wear a leotard, tights, appropriate shoes
and hair out of face to each class. Please visit our dance attire section to learn more. We will have retail sales of dance shoes and
clothing, as well as our popular "shoe
swap" during this registration. If you are interested
in the shoe swap, please put your shoes in a Ziploc bag
with your name, the price, and self addressed stamped
envelope to walk-in registration.
CLASS OBSERVATIONS
- Please wait in the waiting room outside of the activity
room during class to avoid distracting the children (or
the teacher). If separating from your child is a problem,
please be considerate of the other students in your efforts.
The classes for the littlest dancers are not long, and someone
who is not ready should not distract those children who
are ready to learn. During the dance season we will have an opportunity for all parents to stay and watch your child's class - Make sure to bring your camera!
ATTENDANCE - Regular attendance is necessary
to learn proper technique, develop self-confidence, and
learn the steps necessary for the class to progress.
Please be on time for both drop off and pick up. We
ask that parents escort your child to the classroom no earlier
than 5 minutes before it starts. Please come into the dance
room with your child both at arrival and dismissal. You
will develop rapport with the instructor, and also meet
new faces. If siblings are brought to the school, they must be strictly
supervised at all times. Please don't let them roam the
halls, or play with the water cooler.
PICK UP AND DROP
OFF- Please have your daughter picked up
on time. We cannot be responsible for girls sitting in the
waiting room while another class is starting. If you are
the last class of the night, or the last class for that
teacher that night, and you are late picking your daughter
up the teacher cannot leave until all the girls are gone.
If you pick your daughter up late we will charge $1.00
for every minute you are late, to be paid in cash, that
day, to the instructor who had to stay late. There will
be no exceptions to this rule.
CLASS BEHAVIOR AND RULES -
1. Do not run in the dance room or anywhere else in the
school.
2. Do not bring foods or drinks to class. Water bottles
are allowed - your child will not be
allowed to leave the activity room to use the water cooler
in the hall.
3. Do not chew gum.
4. Students should use the bathroom before coming to class
5. Students will not be permitted to leave the activity
room until someone comes to get them.
LOST AND FOUND
- Please label your children's shoes and clothing
with their names. All items left in the activity room will
be stored in a plastic bin marked "Dance Lost and Found".
Please feel free to check the bin for missing items.
PLAYCENTERS
- If your child is coming from Playcenters or returning
to them from class these arrangements need to be confirmed
with the staff at Playcenters. The dance teacher will provide
supervision once your child reaches the activity room, but
cannot be responsible for escorting your child to and from
class.
PHONE TREE MOMS
- All of you who volunteered to help with
the class phone tree will receive a class roster with telephone
numbers and e-mail addresses for each student. If classes
are cancelled for any reason, you will be asked to call
each student to let them know.
COSTUMES - All dancers will be measured for their costume(s) by Melissa Heick. Please check the yearly calendar for this important date. Once you receive your child's costume please hang it up. Keep in mind that we do NOT replace missing, damaged, etc... costumes. Once we hand them out they're your responsibility. We will hand out all accessories on picture day. We will also be making last minute adjustments of straps and hair accessories at that time too. Please label everything! If your child's costumes has straps which are not attached DO NOT sew them into place, please cris- cross them in the back and pin them to the leotard. Fringe skirts which came with basting stitches need to be removed by gently pulling the loose, open end. Remember no underwear under the tights, pant lines can be a problem, even with our little dancers. Again, once costumes (and accessories) have been handed out they're your responsibility.
RECITAL - ALL DANCERS ARE REQUIRED TO PARTICIPATE. Due to the size of our program we have two separate shows. Our recitals are held on a Sunday afternoon in the Spring. Please visit our recital news section to learn more.
CANCELLATION POLICY-
If schools are closed for National Holiday or no custodian staff will be present (Example: Yom Kippur, Rosh Hashanah, Election Day) we do NOT have dance class. Please refer to your yearly calendar for more details. (Halloween is not considered a national holiday but we will NOT dance.)
Weather Closings: If Baltimore County public schools are closed, OR after school programs are canceled due to inclement weather, OR the Baltimore County Snow Emergency Plan is in effect, all scheduled activities are canceled.
